12 Exciting Reasons to Shop from Karachi Sunday Bazaar

2

Update: Sunday Bazaar DHA has been closed now since December 31, 2014

1.Parking at Ease

Everyone dreads parking in a crowded shopping center of Karachi. But Defence Sunday bazaar offers two huge spacious parking lots. Every car, bike, van usually gets accommodated and besides there’s a constant surveillance, so no worries and a happy shopping.

2.Security

The Defence Sunday bazaar is much more secure than the other open markets of Karachi. Armed security guards at the entrance and constant surveillance on the parking space gives A HUGE peace of mind.

3. A Big Yes to Strollers and Wheelchairs

The biggest problem of open markets in Karachi is shopping with toddlers. You can’t carry them throughout and so you need to have your stroller. And that’s why this is definitely one of the best feature of  Sunday bazaar, it has tiled floor which makes it very convenient to carry along strollers and wheelchairs and colored fiber glass roofing to protect from heat.

4. Literally You Can Get Everything

From fruits and vegetables, to old phone handsets and antique items, there’ s absolutely everything available in Sunday bazaar.

Jewellery, clothes, cooking utensils, books, branded bags, plants you name it and they have it.

5. You Can Always Spot a Celebrity

Karachi is a big city but SUNDAY BAZAAR is one spot for all and our celebrities also shop from there.

Each time I have visited I have spotted a celebrity like Angelina Malik, Saira Sheroz and few others.

6. Hygienic Food Stalls

Bun kebab, chana chaat, biryani, gol gappay mouth watering snacks after some shopping is total bliss and what’s even more better that these snacks are prepared in a much hygienic way as compared to other places.

With plenty of space and many benches, one can sit down and have some rest. An average play area for kids also gives the little ones a break.

7. Uncommon Fruits and Vegetables

Jack fruit, kiwi, Arvi, red pepper many such fruits and vegetables that we don’t usually see throughout in the local grocery stores of Karachi  are available in reasonable prices.

8. Original Branded Bags

Sounds crazy! But its true.
Louis Vuitton, Prada, Coach, Gucci, Micheal Kor.

The bag section is divided into two sections new and used.

One wonders what are the new bags doing here, well its the defected pieces that are given away to open markets. But it all depends on the buyers eye for the diamond. You have to see for yourself which one is new and which one is used and then you must be a Master in the game of bargain because after all its Sunday bazaar and bargaining is the game to be played here.

9. Low Prices

Sunday bazaar Karachi is affordable by the many socioeconomic classes of our city and therefore there’s something for everyone.

Since the shopkeepers don’t have to pay very high rents, most of the products are of much low prices as compared to the shops.

10. Friendly Salesmen

The shopkeepers are here just for a day in the week. They are very enthusiastic to sell. They want to impress any buyer coming to their stall.

11.Its Always Cool and Breezy

Being close to the sea, the weather is usually kind and even in the scorching heat of summers its mostly cool and breezy.  And because its open, one doesn’t feel suffocated.

12. Window Shopping is Always an Option

This Sunday Bazaar is unlike any other Sunday Bazaar of Karachi. Friendly people, great environment, cool and trendy stuff… not only attracts serious buyers but also people who simply want to stroll around and enjoy their day by simply looking at things.

My Recommendations:-

1. When you are moving your house shop from Sunday bazaar, you will find everything in very affordable prices.

2. Once you spot something that you want don’t show much excitement rather pretend that you think its OK then start the bargaining deal.

3. An item worth  Rs 500 can be brought down to Rs 200, just be persistent.

4.Go around 10 in the morning, everything is fresh and less crowded.
