3.There are 2 Criteria for Karachi University Admission

Open Merit Admission

These are the departments which will grant you admission on your Inter Percentage basis depending on whether your percentage is within  the closing percentage of that department. You just have to fill the form and submit it at the Silver Jubilee Gate of Karachi University with the admission fees.

Refer to page 115 to see the list of departments which fall into this category.

Aptitude Test

Some departments require an aptitude test and also consider your Inter percentage for giving admission.

How to calculate your percentage for the aptitude test

For those of you who are finding it difficult to calculate your score of the aptitude test, read the steps below

Example: You scored 70 in your entry test and your Inter percentage is 60%

Then the calculation will be like this:-

60% x 70 = 42

Now 42 is rounded off to 40 which means now your score is 40%

Now this number 40% is multiplied by 60 (Inter percentage)

40% x 60 = 24

Now both the deduced numbers are added.

Total = 42 + 24 = 66

It means you scored 66% in the aptitude test and on this basis you will be granted admission.

Refer to page 113 to see which departments fall into this category.

4.Announcement of Successful candidates

The names of the successful applicants is displayed outside the main gate of Karachi University. Keep your receipts very carefully for further processes.

5.Claim Form

If you feel that you have been denied an admission although your eligibility was within the merit then you can submit a claim form with Rs 500.

    • Hi Sundus,

For every year there’s a change in the admission procedure. You need to check Karachi university website from time to time and also check in the newspapers.
Usually once the candidates are selected they are asked to complete the admission formalities around mid of December.

      Hope this helps.

  1. Hi if you can help me out, i have gone through the closing % of open merit based morning programs of BS pschology it says the closing % is 79.5 so we have to score 79.5 or above in inter? I scored 75 in FSc it means i am not eligible?

    • Hi Saman,

If the eligibility criteria is 79.5 % and you scored a 75% then I believe it means you are not eligible. However just to make sure you must physically go the University administration and confirm for yourself.

  2. Dear author . I have a question plz answer . I’m very confused Plz tell me is HEC test required for BS programs ? And one more thing what type of syllabus is given in the entry test of Bachelor program .

  3. Hi Kiran, could you please assist me in applying online for medical universities in Karachi by self finance in general? All I see is their registrations regarding Open Merit, and I am unaware of the difference between Self finance and open Merit, and whether I should choose Open Merit in the registration form if there’s no option regarding self finance. Your reply will be of great help. Looking forward to it!

    • Hi Hail,
My personal recommendation would be that you must physically go the medical universities and do the inquiry regarding your admission process. Since the amount is pretty hefty for medical tuition, its best that you do all the paper work when you are present yourself.

If there is a particular medical college that you are interested in let me know and I will look into the details.

      Thanks
